Jointly organized by the HKUST Shanghai Center and the HKUST Shanghai Alumni Association, the "One Night" HKUST Ballet Night was successfully held on August 6, 2026, at the Shanghai International Dance Center. As a signature event celebrating the HKUST 35th Anniversary, the special session brought together nearly 1,000 guests, including government representatives, corporate partners, academic institutions, and alumni from across the Yangtze River Delta.

Before the performance began, the theater lobby featured an interactive "How Much Do You Know About HKUST" quiz area, where visitors and alumni families won customized 35th-anniversary souvenirs by answering trivia about the university's history.

Professor Guo Yike, Provost of HKUST, delivered a welcoming speech on behalf of the university. He highlighted HKUST’s major achievements over its 35-year history, including ranking 33rd globally in the QS World University Rankings and incubating over 1,900 tech enterprises. He also emphasized the deepening ties between the university and the city of Shanghai, noting the development of the HKUST Shanghai Center and the upcoming launch of the "1+1" dual-city student cultivation model.

Ms. Ji Pingping, Director of the Shanghai Ballet, also delivered remarks congratulating HKUST on its milestone anniversary and highlighting the shared spiritual foundations of innovation and exploration between the Shanghai Ballet and HKUST. Following the speeches, the Shanghai Ballet performed the classic production The Phantom of the Opera. Strongly supported by event partner Bank of China, the performance concluded the evening as a unique artistic tribute to the university's landmark anniversary.
