Julio FRENK博士
加州大学洛杉矶分校校长
Congratulations to the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology community on your 35th anniversary. This milestone reflects three and a half decades of remarkable growth, intellectual rigor and global engagement.
HKUST has established itself as one of the world’s leading research universities, consistently recognized among the top institutions globally for excellence in science, engineering, business, innovation and other areas. Just as importantly, it has become a model for how a young university can achieve global impact in a relatively short time, shaping ideas and talent that extend well beyond its region.
I would also like to congratulate HKUST on its selection to establish and operate Hong Kong’s third medical school. This is a significant and forward-looking responsibility, reflecting deep trust in HKUST’s capacity to advance medical education, research and health system innovation at a time when global health challenges demand new forms of collaboration and training.
As chancellor of UCLA, I am especially pleased to highlight the longstanding partnership between our institutions through the University of California Education Abroad Program, which has enabled meaningful exchange opportunities for students and faculty. These experiences deepen mutual understanding and help prepare the next generation of global citizens.
We also value HKUST’s contributions as a fellow member of the Association of Pacific Rim Universities, a network that continues to strengthen academic collaboration across the region and the world.
On behalf of the UCLA community, I extend my best wishes for continued success in the years ahead and look forward to further strengthening our partnership in the service of knowledge and the public good.
